Members of my family have been involved in breeding purebred Australian Shepherds since the 1960's.  My passion for this breed began at the farms of my great uncle, Ogee Johnson, and my cousins, the Hass family.  As a very young girl (back in the early 70's), I remember sitting out in front of my uncle's farmhouse with what seemed at the time to be a huge, furry blue dog sitting next to me.  I fell totally in LOVE with that pretty blue dog!  A few years later, my parents acquired a self blue merle Aussie from a local rancher that we named Freckles.  She was the most amazing, most intelligent and most loyal family dog that ever lived!  She was with us from my grade school years through high school.  Though I grew up with the signature "blue dogs" of the Aussie breed and deep "liver reds" make me weak in the knees, I'm a true Black Tri enthusiast!!!

The Australian Shepherd is the most beautiful, intelligent, charismatic, loyal, hard working breed of dog known to this world!  Much like the American Quarter Horse, the Australian Shepherd breed is uniquely American, not to mention amazingly versatile!  Though believed to have descended from herding dogs imported from the Basque regions of the Pyreneese Mountains via a route through Australia to America, this breed was pursued, perfected and permanently established by American ranchers and farmers to help tend and herd their livestock and to protect their homes and families.  This breed represents all the characteristics that make this country great---work ethic, honesty and beauty!  Anyone who knows an Aussie can share with you the "quirks" unique to the Australian Shepherd breed- their ability to "smile," their ability to "sing" or "talk" and an Aussie can grab you with their "hands" just like another person can!  Purebred Australian Shepherds come in 16 different color varieties which is a testament to this breed's outstanding versatility.  Aussies never let you get bored-whether it's their diverse beauty, their human-like personalities or their amazing talents, Aussies are endlessly entertaining!  We here at Bellahara believe strongly in preserving these unique characteristics as well as the foundation work ethic and intelligence that have made this breed beyond phenomenal! Bellahara Kennels are members of both the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) and the American Kennel Club (AKC).  When we breed an Aussie litter, it's our goal and commitment to breed sound, talented, intelligent canine beauties that can work from dawn 'til dusk and look good doing it! I can't say enough about this breed-they're truly the most amazing dogs EVER!
